Robert Brines

Robert “Bob” Michael Brines, 73, of O’Fallon, IL, passed in his home, surrounded by his loving family and dear dogs, on November 30, 2024.

Born on July 1, 1951, in Princeton, Indiana, Bob enjoyed all kinds of music. especially classic rock and attended numerous concerts. He loved traveling with his wife of 55 years, Terri, to places like Australia, Ireland and Europe. However, his favorite place was the beach. He was a big history buff and liked to visit historical sites while on their trips.

A rock for his family and friends, Bob was always there to support them. A lifelong sports fan, he loved following his favorite teams: St. Louis Cardinals, IU Hoosiers and the Dallas Cowboys. Bob enjoyed golfing with friends and spending time with family. He could put on an amazing fireworks display or fish fry.

Bob graduated from PCHS in 1969 and obtained Accounting and Finance degrees from University of Southern Indiana (formerly ISUE) while working full time. His career was focused in the coal industry with over 30 years at Old Ben, Ziegler and Peabody coal companies. His career led his family to the St. Louis area in 1991, where he worked until retiring in 2014.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leon and Geneive Ruth (nee Griffin) Brines; brother-in-law, Max Vore; and son-in-law, Hector Wong.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Terri Brines (nee Welder); three daughters, Sue Ellen Poynter Wong, Suzanne (Pat) Sullivan, and Shannon (Steve) Werner; brother, J.B. Brines; seven sisters, Sonia (Ronnie) Clark, Kay Vore, Mary Ann Gaston, Caroline Sneath, Debbie (Ron) Doggette, Julie Brines, and Betsy (Brian) Coulter; five grandsons, Connor Magee, Max Poynter, Jake, Dominic and Cameron Werner; along with many dear nieces, nephews and in-laws. Sophie and Izzie, Bob’s Shichons were his constant companions.

There will be a celebration of life held in Princeton, Indiana in 2025.
