Nelson “Nick” G. Gougeon, 87 of Glen Carbon, IL, born February 19, 1937, in Miami, FL, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Meridian Village surrounded by his loving family.
Nick was a 1955 graduate of Hickman High School in Columbia, MO. He proudly served in the Army National Guard as well as the Coast Guard. Over the course of his career he worked as a fireman, owned a movie theatre, and drove over the road buses for Grey Line.
He was a paranormal enthusiast and enjoyed model building. He was well known for his railroad set, tanks and ships. Nick was actively involved at Meridian Village painting the signs for their events. He was a member of Copper Creek Christian Church in Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie (nee Groteke) Gougeon.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Charlotte (nee Landry) Gougeon, whom he married September 15, 1962; two sons: Wallace “Tony” (Julie) Gougeon and Jeffrey (Kathleen) Gougeon; a daughter, Karen (Billy) Schrader; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Albert) Deutsch, Christian Gougeon-Poole, Samuel Gougeon-Poole and Jamie Schrader; four great-grandchildren: Alana, Eva and Luna Mia Deutsch, and Dahlia Schrader.
A private inurnment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
