Ronald “Ron” Richard Joergensen, 82 of Collinsville, IL, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Born on May 9, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, Ron was the cherished only child of Edwin and Cecilia (née Compton) Joergensen. A graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, Ron proudly served six years in the National Guard after completing his education. He later married the love of his life, Judith “Judi” Kukla, and built a 32-year career with the U.S. Government before retiring.
Family was the cornerstone of Ron’s life. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he always put his loved ones first. He found joy in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling, or coaching soccer. Known for his honesty and work ethic, Ron was also an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for the Illinois Fighting Illini, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the St. Louis Blues.
Ron had a sharp sense of humor, a love for reading and an appreciation for good food and wine. He was member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Judi Joergensen; two sons: Michael (Tonya) Joergensen of San Antonio, TX and Matt (Hilary) Joergensen of Purcellville, VA; four grandchildren: Ethan, Phillip, Noah and Ella.
Memorial visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville.
Memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange Ave, Maryville, IL 62062 with Father Rob Johnson celebrant. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
Memorials are suggested to Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or in the form of masses and will be received at the funeral home.
