Ann Kathleen Hogan, 66, of Granite City, IL, and formerly Murphysboro, IL, died peacefully December 13, 2024, at home with family in O’Fallon, IL. She was born December 26, 1957, at St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Mary “Mae” M. Hogan (Stacey) and Raymond F. Hogan.
She was born and grew up in East St. Louis, IL, where she went to St. Philip grade school and St. Teresa Academy. She then moved to Carbondale, IL, where she attended SIU and completed a B.S. in Child & Family and later a M.S. in Education. She worked as an Assistant Instructor for SIUC’s Pre-K Program, and passionately loved working with children. In Carbondale, she met and married John D. Cotter and had three children, Tim, Kelli, and Erin Cotter; they later divorced.
After raising her children, Ann worked as a Billing Accountant for PMCL, later CDM, where she retired. She was an avid golfer and Cardinals fan, and loved to be outside in the beauty of nature. Ann loved to play board games and poker with family and friends, and could always be counted on to add some silliness and humor to any occasion. She spent many hours laughing with friends, and volunteered for Camp Ondessonk, whose community brought her life-long friendships.
Ann was an expert confidant with great insight, and happy to give advice to any who asked, whether it be for dealing with life, or when to fold or hit. She brought joy to all she met and was easily counted a friend. Ann was tough, and through the many trials of life, could always find joy and hope. Many have been blessed by her warmth, love, and humor, and she will truly be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Raymond Hogan, and brothers Brian E. Hogan and Ronald F. Hogan.
She is survived by her son Timothy J. Cotter, daughter Kelli A. Cotter (Amir Mohamed), daughter Erin K. Cotter (Parker Savka), and grandson Kieran P. Savka; her brothers Dennis R.Hogan, Raymond M. (Rose) Hogan, and Michael J. Hogan; her nieces and nephews AJ and Chris (Jen) Barron, Matthew and Bradley Hogan, Joseph and Daniel (Molly) Hogan, Tim (Karen), Philip, and Kristi (John Correll) Hogan, and Kelsey (Dan Nachreiner), Torrey, and Michaela Hogan.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Kassly Mortuary in Fairview Heights, IL, with a Catholic funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL, following service.
