Patricia Anne Smith, born September 23, 1935, in Lorain, Ohio, passed from this life to a better one with the Lord on the evening of December 17th 2024.
“Ms. Pat” retired from Federal Service at Scott Air Force Base in July 2012 with 50 years of service. She had been an Executive Assistant for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Directorate of Intelligence, U.S. Transportation Command, for 15 years. She was the recipient of the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award for her service. She also had worked for Air Weather Service and Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB, TROSCROM in St Louis, and Pfizer, Inc., East St Louis, as well as part time for Challenge Unlimited at Scott AFB for over 10 years.
She was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio. She attended Nativity of BVM Grade School and graduated from Lorain High School in 1953, as Secretary of her class.
She was preceded in death by her:
- Parents: Edward J. and Helen (Lewandowski) Smith
- Sister: Mary Lu Hamrick
She was proud of her Polish heritage, and loved America (as well as the St Louis Cardinals!).
She is survived by:
- Three sons:
- Michael Stoeber of Belleville IL
- Darryn J. Ficken (Jamie Yates) of O’Fallon IL
- Dale Ficken (Elin Asvaldsdottir) of Maplewood MO
- Six grandchildren:
- Alexander
- Erik
- Hunter Reise
- Shaylee
- Zoey
- Aliyah
Her family was the love of her life, and her many friends were very special to her. She was an active member of SWIC PSOP, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Women of the Moose, and St. Teresa Church, Belleville.
A Funeral Masswill be held on Saturday, January 4th at 10am at St. Teresa Church in Belleville IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.
