Robert Michael “Mike” Hinterser, 86, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at his home on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
He was born August 18, 1938, in Granite City, a son of the late Jacob Andrew Hinterser Sr. and Helen (Sykes) Hinterser.
The United States Army veteran proudly served his country with the 101st Airborne Division. Mike lived life to the fullest and enjoyed his visits with the Hardee’s breakfast group. His life was full of adventures with many stories that could be told.
He was a jack of all trades working many different jobs throughout the years. He had a green thumb and loved his days of gardening, was a great cook and always enjoyed a good meal, always there to care for his family, tend to his home, collector of most anything and had a love for his dogs. His outgoing personality, humor and willingness to help others will always be remembered.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Jacob Andrew and Judith Hinterser Jr. of Granite City; two nephews and three nieces, Christopher and Robin Hinterser of Edwardsville, Todd and Erica Hinterser of Affton, Missouri and Dana Hinterser of Highland; great nieces and great nephews, Cori, Tyler, Connor, Kyle, Jordan and Sammi; other extended family and friend
In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jacob Andrew “Andy” Hinterser III.
In celebration of his life, a burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville will be at a later date.
