Billie Hope Meier, age 95, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL. Billie was born on November 20, 1929, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Henry Otto Hartmann and Marguerite Frances (Doty) Hartmann.
On May 1, 1954, Billie Hartmann married Arthur “Art” William Meier, the love of her life at Concordia Lutheran Church in Granite City, IL, and Art passed away on December 24, 2014. Billie was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a dear friend.
She was a faithful member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Billie had a vibrant spirit, loved life, and she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband Billie was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Fay Stanton.
She is survived by her loving children, Susan Fay (Rick) Roentz of Granite City, IL, and David Arthur (Elizabeth) Meier of Northbrook, IL, proud grandmother to Ryan Arthur Roentz of Granite City, IL and Abigail Rebecca Meier of Northbrook, IL, and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, the funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Brian Feicho officiating. Billie will be laid to rest next to Art at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Lutheran Child & Family Services or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
