James “Jim” Richard Hargate Sr., age 81, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Jim was born on December 19, 1943, in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late William Hargate Sr. and Jennell (Cobb) Hargate.
Jim was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Marines. On January 02, 2002, Jim married Charlene “Ty’ Seibert in Las Vegas, NV. Jim owned and operated Hargate Theatre Vision in Palm Desert, CA, for many years before retiring. Jim’s first love was Corvettes, in his younger years he worked on the assembly line that made Corvettes in St. Louis, MO. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan, and he enjoyed traveling the country in his RV with Ty. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly. Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William Hargate II.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ty Hargate of Maryville, IL; dear children, James “Jamie” Hargate II of Palm Desert, CA and Kristine Tylene Street of Maryville, IL; proud grandfather to Brady Hargate and Jessica Mortimer; brothers-in-law, Chuck (Kathy) Seibert and Toby (Maria) Seibert; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ayres and Genny Seibert; extended family and many friends.
In celebration of his life, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, with military honors conducted by the United States Marines.
