Marilyn Ann Vornbaum, 77, of Swansea, IL, born March 21, 1947, in Elizabeth, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024.
Marilyn was a proud graduate of St. Adalbert Catholic Grade School and St. Teresa Academy, both in East St. Louis. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University. She dedicated her working life to Catholic education, teaching at several Catholic schools in the Belleville Diocese and in her later career, as a special education teacher at Annunziata School in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. She was a member of the PALS Club and Swansea Moose and always looked forward to a Bingo outing.
She was preceded in death by her parents William M. and Irene A. (nee Malec) Vornbaum, dear aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by special cousins, Margie Reaka and Rachelle Fizer and many other loving cousins and dear friends.
Memorials can be made to The Poor Clares Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, Belleville, Illinois. The family would like to express their gratitude to Bria of Mascoutah for their loving care during her last months.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. Burial of cremated remains will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
