Darrell Edward Davis, age 84, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Darrell was born on September 17, 1940, in Granite City, IL, a son of the late John and Alma (Gosnell) Davis.
On January 27, 1960, Darrell married Marcia Reed, the love of his life at Tri-City Park Tabernacle in Madison, IL. Darrell retired as a mailman in 1999, after forty years of dedicated service. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. Darrell also enjoyed watching old western movies, the news and solving word find puzzles. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Darrell will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Davis; great-granddaughter, Aspyn Davis; one brother, Robert Davis; and by his four sisters, Jolene Hessling, Thelma Pryor, Louise Hughes and June Legate.
He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Marcia Davis of Granite City, IL; loving children, Cindy (Keith) Wilson of Granite City, IL, Darren (Lisa) Davis of Collinsville, IL, Stephen (Danielle) Davis of Granite City, IL and Barry Davis of Wildwood, MO; daughter-in-law, Jill Davis of Wood River, IL; brother, Ron (Dee) Davis of Florida; proud grandfather to Tristen Davis, Whitney Dominguez, Tyler (Becca) Wilson, Brett (Lyndsay) Davis, Kylie (David) Wilhold, Tanner (Katrina) Davis, Taylor Davis, Cheyenne Davis and Brayden (Miranda) Davis; proud great-grandfather to Emersyn Davis, Sophie Wilson and Tucker Davis; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Maynard officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice. Donations will be accepted at the church.
