Hazel E. Seitz, age 95 formerly of Highland, IL, died December 24, 2024, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, IL.
She was born on Saturday, December 7, 1929, in Marine, IL, the daughter of Gustav and Esther (nee Gottenstrater) Kreutzberg.
On Saturday, September 22, 1956, she married Herbert P. Seitz, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, and the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. For many years Hazel crocheted prayer shawls which were given to patients at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Hazel was reared on farms around Alhambra, Marine and Edwardsville. She attended country schools and graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1947. Before marrying Herb and moving to Highland, Hazel worked at the USDA in Edwardsville. From 1974 to 1994, Hazel worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital first as the switchboard operator and later in the business office.
Mr. & Mrs. Seitz travelled throughout most of the United States. Family was of utmost importance to Hazel. She especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter. Hazel had a green thumb and maintained a beautiful outdoor and indoor gardens for many years. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, Illinois.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
