Mateo Elijah Duran-Robertson, a resident of Almost Home for Kids in Peoria, Illinois and formerly of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 7:43 a.m. Dec. 25, 2024, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Emergency Department in Peoria at the young age of 8. He was born October 14, 2016, in Granite City, a son of Luis A. Duran and Tiffany Robertson. Mateo was a brave little boy who fought his 8 years with Myotonic Dystrophy. He loved watching Disney movies and truly enjoyed his favorites of Hercules, Coco and Encanto. Mateo was always delighted to see a familiar face of a loved one and would ring his bell to let you know he was excited.
His precious soul and vibrant smile will always be remembered. His is survived by his father, Luis A. Duran and fiancé, Maxine Sanders of Granite City; his mother, Tiffany Robertson of Granite City; three brothers, Ezra Duran-Robertson, Isaiah Duran-Robertson and Ezekiel Duran-Robertson; his sister, Leticia Duran; grandparents, Nylda Macias of St. Louis and Melissa Robertson of Granite City; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, January 3, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Father Victor Patricio-Silva officiating.
