John Lowren Spiker, age 84 of Collinsville, IL, born September 8, 1940, in Raub, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
John worked as a traveling accountant for the railroad, retiring after 43 years of service. He worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He loved building model train layouts and collecting train memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willard and Daisy Viola (nee Williams) Spiker; and three siblings: Donald, Louise and Lela.
He is survived by his loving wife, Iva (nee Wilkins) Spiker, whom he married January 6, 1962 in Chicago, IL at St. Jerome’s Church; three sons: Brian Spiker, John (Darlene) Spiker and Andrew Spiker; a daughter, Laura (David) Snow; four grandchildren: Jessica Snow, Emily Snow, Daniel Spiker and John Spiker; a brother-in-law, Marvin Schluttenhofer; numerous nieces and nephews.
No services will be held.
A private burial is pending to be held in Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Libertyville, IL.
