Allie Irene Dusek, age 98, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on June 16, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on peacefully at her residence at Mari De Villa nursing home with her family by her side on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
After growing up in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, then moving to East St. Louis, Allie became a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid gardener and an officer of the Fairview Heights Garden Club. She was also a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Allie was a founder and long-time member of the St Albert the Great Parish, which is now Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in which she volunteered in various capacities throughout the years at church and school. She loved being a part of the Quilters club at the Parish.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward Joseph Dusek, whom she was married to for 57 years. She is also preceded by her son Michael Joseph Dusek who died in infancy, and her son Douglas Edward Dusek. She is also preceded by her parents, Leo Birll Courtney, and Sarah Bernardine Pierceall. Allie was also preceded by her siblings; James Courtney, Rosemary (George) Powell, Anna Rita (Everett) Wilson, Charles Cedmon Courtney, William Courtney, Joseph (Ann) Courtney, Agnes Lucia (Edward) Franz, Charles Albert (Mary) Courtney and Mary Carmel (Victor) Migneco.
Allie is survived by her children Dennis A. (Wendy) Dusek M.D. of St. Louis County, MO, Diane (Mark) Crain of Naples, FL, and her daughter-in-law Colleen Dusek (Michael Atkin) of Belleville, IL. Allie was also the grandmother of eight grandchildren: David (Laura) Dusek, Brent Dusek, Lauren (Nic) Albonico, Stephanie (Aldo) Alcaraz-Reza, Jana (Brian) Gregorek, Neil (Stephanie) Dusek, Phillip (Cara) Crain, and William (Laura) Crain. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
“I want my descendants to know that they are connected to the early events in the history of the United States throughout their heritage so they can have a sense of appreciation for the sacrifices of the people who come before them and maybe they can emulate that spirit in their own undertakings.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Building Fund or to Camp Ondessonk.
Visitation for Allie Dusek will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
