John Vincent Lasky, age 85, of Swansea, IL, born on March 22, 1939, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Nazareth Living Center, St. Louis, MO.
John graduated from Assumption Catholic High School in East St. Louis, IL. He attended the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He later received his MBA from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO.
John honorably served his country for over four years in the U.S. Navy. In 1953, he began work for Fraads’s Market in East St. Louis, IL. He later worked for Monsanto in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 2005 as a senior systems analyst. John was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Lithuanian Catholic Church, East St. Louis, IL. He was also a member of the Polish American War Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stephanie, nee Konieczny, Lasky.
John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Danute Zabaite Lasky; his sister, Stephanie Boltas; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Boltas, Renata (Vladas) Navagrudskiene and Dalia Zabaite; his nieces and nephews, Julie Ortman, Matthew (Alyssa) Boltas, John (Lauren) Boltas, Juste (Fahid) Ali, and Gabriele (Antanas) Montvile; and great nieces and nephews, Lucas, Grace, and Sam Ortman, Ashlynn and Elijah Boltas, and Easton, Oakley, Walker, and Presley Boltas.
Memorials are preferred to Catholic Urban Programs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral procession will depart Kassly Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, for a Memorial Mass at 12 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Lithuanian Catholic Church, East S. Louis, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.
A private interment will be at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
