Betty Jean Fish (Tucker), 76, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 at her home.
She was born December 4th, 1948, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, daughter of the late Richard Enoch and Mable Lee (Jones) Tucker.
She will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering love of her faith, family, and friends. She was an amazing grandma who cherished spending time with her grands and great grands and was happiest when she had them all together. She was often the host of family gatherings and was one of the world’s greatest cooks/bakers.
Before retiring, she was a dedicated teacher and made a difference in many lives through education. In her free time, she enjoyed scrapbooking and studying Hebrew. She also loved to travel to Israel and spend time at the family property she lovingly dubbed ‘Fish’s Forty Acres.’
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Deborah Carol (Thomas) Jaco, a brother Paul David (Bonnie) Tucker, and her beloved dachshund Heidi.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jearrel Wayne Fish, who she married in Jonesboro, Arkansas on May 12, 1967, son Anthony Warren (Karen) Fish of Granite City, Illinois, daughter Angela Michel Ellis (James Vonbergen) of Belleville, Illinois, seven grandchildren – Brent, Mark (Sam), Jessica, Bradley, Emily, Zachary, and Zoey, and seven great grandchildren – Hayden, Rosalee, Jaxon, Glorianna, Atticus, Aliyah, and Lincoln, sisters Linda Lee (Jimmie) Carson of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Mary Ann (Gerald) Nash of Conway, Arkansas, and brothers Michael Wayne Tucker of Apple Valley, California and Richard Lee Tucker of Hot Springs, Arkansas, along with a multitude of extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, private family services will be held at a later date. Per Betty’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Zion (https://friendsofzion.com), a cause she was extremely passionate about.
