Charlotte L. “Shorty” Griffith, 95, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 10:22 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at her home.
She was born December 26, 1929, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of the late Walter R. and Leona M. (Etheridge) Pfaff.
She married Gerald W. Griffith on October 17, 1952, in Granite City and he passed away on July 16, 1995.
Charlotte retired in 1990 from Granite City School District after 31 years of dedicated service as a teacher. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Granite City and a graduate of Blackburn College, where she received her degree in teaching. She enjoyed reading and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Becky Griffith of South Holland, Gregory and Mary Griffith of Granite City and Pat and Amy Griffith of Granite City; daughter-in-law, Cindi Griffith of Texas; five grandchildren, Greer, Ben, Dan and Dylan Griffith and Paul Sutter; seven great grandchildren, Ella, Patton, Gus and Theo Griffith and Ty, Aaron and McKenna Sutter; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas “Scott” Griffith and a brother, Don Ffaff.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenreith officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
