Mary “Joan” Juergens, nee Skaggs, 85, of Belleville, IL, born September 11, 1939, in Miller County, MO, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Addington Place of Collinsville, IL.
Joan worked as a customer service representative and retired from AT&T. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL and was a member of the Union Methodist Women at the church.
Joan had also been a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Belleville American Legion Post #58. She was proud to have traveled to all 50 states of America and was a Duke NCAA college basketball fan. Joan enjoyed spending time with her retired AT&T coworkers. Most importantly, she was a proud grandmother to Emma Anderton and loved being called “Bucca.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Billy L. Juergens, whom she married on June 27, 1959, and who died on September 12, 2022; her parents, Grant and Irene, nee Palmer, Skaggs; a brother, Thomas Skaggs; two sisters, Reta Shelton and Sue Grider; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Schneider.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay (Paul) Miskell, Collinsville, IL, and Lori (Bob) Anderton, Cedar Park, TX; a granddaughter, Emma Anderton; a sister, Paula Jean Schneider, Eldon, MO; and various nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Dr. Dr. Joseph Scheets officiating.
Private family burial will be held at Dixon City Cemetery, Dixon, MO.
