Larry Webb

Larry “Lars” Mitchell Webb, age 72, born September 3, 1952, in St. Louis, MO died peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home in Swansea, IL. In his final hours, he was surrounded by family and his dear friend, Jeane holding his hand.

Larry was a graduate of Belleville Township West. Upon graduation, he headed West to fulfill his dreams and aspirations of living, working, and seeing the country.

For over 50 years, Larry held the title of “cowboy” proudly. He traveled throughout the west and southwest, working on various ranches. He was a professional cowboy and would take on any work that was needed. He worked as a ranch hand, wrangler, outfitter, farrier and cattle rancher, just to name a few.

Life out west afforded him many experiences, beautiful scenery, countless friendships and even allowed him to become a commercial actor. Larry never met a stranger and carried a smile always. He was eager to share a story of his adventures with anyone who would listen.

Larry was passionate about his work and travels, but he was even more passionate about his family. His love for his family and friends was never ending; he was always present no matter the physical distance.

Over the past few weeks, he was adamant about connecting and spending time with those he loved. He was intentional about the time he had left and made sure to give us all as much of his time as he could. All while still smiling and being his true self. He was determined to not let his illness define him and fought a very hard battle to the end.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald A. Muskopf; and his father, Calvin Webb.

Larry is survived by his mother, Louise Muskopf of Belleville, IL; his brothers, Garry (Roxanne) Webb of Lenzburg, IL, Michael Brown of Florida, Daniel (Jeanine) Muskopf of Millstadt, IL, Corky Webb of Midway, GA and Richard (Tammie) Webb of Cleveland, SC;  his sister-in-law, Yvonne Muskopf; his nieces and nephews, Cody Webb-Schoen and family; Alex (Emily) Muskopf, Danielle (Joseph) Tribout, Gregory Muskopf and Aaron Muskopf; his great nieces and nephews; Connor, Emma, Carter and Brayden; special Aunt Gerry; his dear friend, Jeane Soumie; and former wife, Caroline Markham. Larry leaves behind numerous cousins, and a country filled with friends he met along the way.

A special thank you to Larry’s Hospice team from Hospice of Southern Illinois; Christine, DeeDee and Lace. Huge thanks to Jeane and Roxanne for their loving care to Larry.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January, 24, 2025, at Pappo’s Pizza, 15 Ludwig Drive, Fairview Heights, IL. Kassly Mortuary Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
