Teresa “Terry” Lynne Rettig, nee Farmer, age 72, of Belleville, born April 16, 1952 in Biloxi, Miss., went to be with her Lord on Jan. 21, 2025 at home with her family at her side.
Terry moved with her family to the area in 1964 and graduated from Belleville Township High School East, Class of 1970. One year after graduation, she married Billie Joe Rettig on September 11, 1971 at First Baptist Church O’Fallon. What started out as a date to the Sweetheart Banquet turned into a deep and devoted love for one another, that during their 53 years of marriage, became a legacy their families and friends treasure.
Later, she attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, enrolled in elementary education courses. Terry and Bill have been long-time dedicated members of First Baptist Church O’Fallon, where she sang in the choir and worked as a secretary and recordkeeper.
She had been involved in many ministries over the years, including the Mother’s Day Out program, Vacation Bible School, and the Creation Corner preschool. She loved being with children, including her in-home day care kids, her own children, and her grandchildren. She was a loving mother to Keira and Cameron, and affectionate and doting in her role as “Mimi,” instilling the love of Jesus in her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Kayla Renee and parents John and Billie (nee Causey) Farmer.
Survivors include her husband Bill Rettig, daughter Keira (Jackie) Brem of Odessa, Texas; son Cameron (Katie) Rettig of O’Fallon; grandchildren Andrew Brem and Riley, Reagan, Reuben, and Rhett Rettig. Also surviving is her sister Karen (Darrell) Lane of Orange City, Fla., and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
