Janet “Jan” Wilsey, age 78 of Highland, IL, died Friday, January 24, 2025, at Cedarhurst of Highland in Highland, IL.
She was born on Friday, December 27, 1946, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Cleon and Frances Louise (nee ) Statton, Sr..
Janet was born in Granite City, IL., graduated high school and earned a degree from SIU-E in Speech Pathology. She taught in a wide area of the metro St. Louis region for over 30 years. Even today, she would run into former students who expressed their appreciation. Jan belonged to the Teachers Association and enjoyed membership at the Korte Rec Center. She had a love for cats and had raised and showed them in the mid-west. Native American culture was a great past-time and carried into her class room. Jan had been a Foster Parent to several students in the area. Family vacations, for a number of years was at Port Stanley, Canada. Always a joke teller and gift of gab, she was the star of her lunch bunce at Cedarhurst.

She was preceded in death by:
Father – Cleon Edwin Statton, Sr.
Mother – Frances Louise Nee Hopkins Statton
Brother – Cleon E. Statton, Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. A prayer service will be at a later date.
