Curtis Wiley

Curtis Leroy Wiley, Jr., 96, of Belleville, IL, born January 6, 1929, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, February 14, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Breese, IL.

Mr. Wiley served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Throughout his career, he worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Belleville Glass, and worked in the maintenance department for BAC College. He was a dedicated member of St. Henry Catholic Church and participated in the Men’s Club. Curtis was an avid sports fan and loved watching the St. Louis Cardinal’s and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was a jazz enthusiast collecting many albums throughout the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns and tending to his garden.

Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanne H. Wiley, nee Wynn, whom he married on April 11, 1953, and who died on November 19, 2011; his parents, Curtis and Elizabeth, nee Fournie, Wiley; two sisters, Evelyn (William) Klopmeyer and Mildred Wiley; and his brother-in-law, James Wynn.

Surviving are his son, Curt S. (Laurie) Wiley of Shiloh, IL; two daughters, Susan M. (Wayne) Groom of Okawville, IL, and Michele K. (William) Burger of Kansas City, MO;

five grandsons, Curt S. Jr. (Messina) Wiley, Christopher S. (Kate) Wiley, Connor S. (Tori) Wiley, Ryan J. (Morgan) Groom, and Randy L. (Sarah) Groom; eight great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Sloan, Layla, Ledger, Rhett, Lawson, Lynnex, Leighton, and the fourth great-grandson is expected any day; a dear sister-in-law, Carol Wynn; and many dear nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Henry Catholic Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with the Rev. Kenneth York officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
