After spending the day with her Valentine and love of her life, Julie Ann Schneider (née Murphy) went to sleep, had the sweetest dreams, and angels carried her home at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Her parents, Tom and Mary Murphy joyfully met her at the gates of heaven and escorted her to paradise alongside her savior. She was 82 years old.
Julie is survived by her high school sweetheart and stoic husband of 62 years, Joseph Schneider. She leaves behind a legacy of six children: Tony and Phyllis (nee Kapp) Schneider, Mary (Schneider) and John Ellington, Craig and Katie (Auerbach) Schneider, Donna Schneider and Heybet Sun, Brian and Nikki (Mardos) Schneider, and Eric and Monica (Martin) Schneider. She adored her eight grandchildren: Alex (Abby) and Tony Schneider, Zachary and Finnegan Schneider, Jessica (Matthew) Brenner and Adam Ellington, Connor Sun, and Mia Mardos-Schneider. She was so proud to see her children’s children’s children and experience the title of great grandma to Rowan and Tellulah Schneider. Julie leaves her younger siblings behind, Tom (Judy) Murphy, and Mary (Dennis) Murphy, along with countless nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.
A lifelong native of the St. Louis, MO metropolitan area, Julie graduated from De Andreis High School, where she met Joe and several lifelong friends. She worked throughout her lifetime while raising her crew of six children, assuring that all of them had the best opportunities at life with the finest 12 years of private Catholic education her and Joe could provide. She was very active in their lives, endless activities and sporting events, along with her local church, where she chaired the Pro-Life Committee.
Julie never said no to a party. Their home was always a hub of activity, and she was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Whether celebrating their annual New Years Day Bash, traveling the country or visiting her local casino, she lived a life of adventure. Her legendary skillet-fried pork chops, noodle casserole, mostaccioli, and coconut cream pie will live on in the memories and tastebuds of the hundreds of mouths she fed over the years.
Her beloved husband Joe will share plans for a Celebration of Julie’s Life at a future date.
