Martha Jane Johns, 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 4:09 a.m. Sat. Feb. 15, 2025 at her home while under hospice care.
She was born Mar. 1, 1943 in Cowansville, PA to the late Alvin and Edna (Taylor) Edwards.
On Nov. 6, 1959, she and Ernest Eugene Johns were married in West Virginia. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2008.
Martha was a baker for Ravanelli’s for many years.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Karyn Johns of Collinsville, IL and Randy and Theresa Johns of Granite City; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother: Sam Edwards; and 2 sisters: Gladys John and Evelyn Crissman.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Brian Keith Johns; 3 brothers: Perry, Darrell and Jim; and 2 sisters: Carol and Irene.
She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at St. John’s Cemetery on Maryville Rd. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
