Theresa Carroll

Theresa D. Carroll (nee Robitaille), 91, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at St. Paul’s nursing home in Belleville, IL. Theresa was born on June 9, 1933, in Fall River, MA, and was the oldest of 13 children. On September 4, 1950, she married the love of her life, James Carroll, and were married 65 years before he passed away in 2015. Together, the two of them traveled the world, but were happiest when they were sitting side by side in the quiet of their home or in “their pew” at St. Clare Catholic Church, where they were parishioners for over 50 years.

Theresa was a talented artist who loved spending time toll painting, creating ceramics, and sewing quilts. She loved ice cream, tending to the pool in her backyard, keeping her pantry stocked with her grandkids’ favorite treats, and musical cards which she stockpiled to have on hand for every occasion and celebration.

Theresa is proceeded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Arthur Audette; her siblings, Roger, Henri, Alice, Arthur, Richard, Robert, and Normand; and her beloved husband James, who was certainly waiting patiently to be reunited with her.

Theresa is survived by her 3 children, Michael (Molly) Carroll of O’Fallon, IL, Helen North of O’Fallon, IL, and David (Mary) Carroll of Sorento, IL; 5 siblings, Blanche, Paula, Juliette, Evelyn, and Rene’; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Chad) Walling, Elizabeth (Marshall) Carroll, Amanda (Nathaniel) Payne, Lana (James) Shovlin, Nancy (Josh) Borwey, John North, and Michael Carroll; 7 great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jessica Payne, Grace, Cecilia, and Leo Shovlin, and Clementine and Jack Borwey; countless nieces and nephews, and Xavier Carroll, who all remembered her love when she could no longer remember.
