Shirley Mae Rippy, 90, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 10:52 a.m. Thurs. Feb. 27, 2025 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
She was born Mar. 12, 1934 in Dixon, MO to the late Oscar and Myra Wagner.
She and T. R. Rippy were married Dec. 31, 1950 in Granite City and he preceded her in death Apr. 6, 2006.
Shirley loved to play bingo and cards. When she was younger, she would lay out in the yard with her daughter, catching rays. She loved being a mom and grandmother and showed her love by cooking for her family and loving her kids and grandkids. She loved watching wrestling and was an avid WWE fan.
She is survived by 5 children: Jack Rippy of Dover, TN, Sharon (John) Thompson of Granite City, Steve (Loretta) Rippy of Dale, FL, David Rippy of Collinsville, IL and James Rippy of Wentzville, MO; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: Ricky Wagner of Granite City.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons: Wayne Rippy and John Rippy; a grandson: Devin James Rippy; and 2 sisters: Thelma Kramer and Brenda Rains.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 7:00 p.m. Thurs. Mar. 6, 2025 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory with cremation to follow.
