Donna M. Stein, nee Wellenkotter, born October 30, 1936, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, at her residence in Freeburg, IL. Donna was 88 years old.
Mrs. Stein dedicated her life to her family, home and community. Donna will be remembered for her kindness, faith and unwavering positive outlook. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg, IL. She was also actively involved in many other organizations: St. Paul’s Choir, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, American Legion Auxiliary
Freeburg Sportsman’s Club, the Southern Illinois Street Rod Association, the Okaw Valley Classic Chevy Club, and the Lakers Car Club.
Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James L. Stein, whom she married on October17, 1964, and who died on March 23, 2014; a grandson, James Tiberius Lake; her parents, Alfred J. and Adelia M., nee Goegelein, Wellenkotter; and her four sisters-in-laws, Patricia (Joseph) Kasper, Jane Higgins, Lola McCarver, Celeste Sue Stein, and Phyllis Stein.
Surviving are her son, Michael (Ramona) Stein of Clermont, FL.; a daughter, Michelle Kujawa-Lake of Oak Point, Texas; eight grandchildren, Connor (Jillian) Stein, Nicholas Kujawa, Carmen Stein, Riley Kujawa, Taylor Kujawa, Ian Lake, Elara Lake, and Jocelyn Kujawa; her brother, Carl (Skip); and nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Pastor Andrew Lovins officiating.
Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
