James Chadderton

James Thomas Chadderton, 82, of Belleville, IL, born August 30, 1942, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, March 3, 2025, at his residence.

During his life, Jim was a machinist, a shoe store manager, and retired from Old Vienna Potato Chips after 35 years. His passion was playing music in several bands starting in 1958. Jim played steel guitar and lead guitar in his own band “The Special Edition.” His hobbies included boating and bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Bessie, nee Mayhall, Chadderton; and a sister, Mary Jean (Joe) Polich.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Joan K., nee Groh, Chadderton, whom he married on December 28, 1963; a daughter, Janice K. (William Jr.) Menn of Freeburg, IL; two grandchildren, William III (Kerry) Menn and Julie K. (fiancé Ian Weber) Menn; great grandchildren, Frankie Menn and his future brother; a sister, Cheryl (Timothy) Nienhaus; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Hospice or to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Andrew Lovins officiating.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
