Nicholas Joseph Stevenson, 90, of Belleville, IL, born March 12, 1934, in Carlyle, IL, died Saturday, March 8, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Stevenson attended SWIC for carpenter school. Nick eventually started Stevenson Construction company and owned it for 25 years. He then worked for St. Clair County as a building inspector. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church and past President of the Home Builders Association.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Matyas; a granddaughter, Megan Stevenson; his first wife, Charlotte Stevenson of 33 years; his parents, Edward and Elizabeth, nee Gehrs, Stevenson; a brother, Edward in infancy; four sisters, Bernice Stevenson Ash, Betty Stevenson Buentgen, Mary Stevenson Linke, and Helen Stevenson Schulte.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Jacquelyn Stevenson, nee Crane; two sons, Nicholas A. (Lisa) Stevenson and Richard A. (Mary) Stevenson; two stepchildren, Joseph (Casandra) Roy and Jocelyn M. Roy; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Joseph (Laura) Kreiter, Shenandoah and Isaiah Hechenberger, Jordyn (Stephen) French, Sara and Nicholas James Stevenson, Anthony Joseph Roy, and Riley Elizabeth Roy; three great-grandchildren, Dallas, Dominic, and Cameron; and a special friend, Dave Winkel.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. James Buerster officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
