Ruth Marie Welch age 74, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Ruth was born on March 20, 1950, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late William and Rose Mary (Koehler) Welch.
Ruth will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, IL. Ruth retired as a teacher from Venice High School after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed going shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Welch.
She is survived by her loving brother, David (Sylvia) Welch of Winfield, MO, dear sister-in-law, Betty Welch, proud aunt to William J. Welch, Amanda (Jerry) Yeager, Robert Welch, Chris (Katrina) Welch, James (Michelle) Welch, Herbert Welch, Nick (Kim) Welch, Scott (Tricia) Welch and Mike Welch, many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, a funeral mass will held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Granite City, IL, with Father Alfred Tumwesigye officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
Memorial donations may be given in the form of Masses. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
