Helen Peterson

Helen A. Peterson, 76, of Granite City, Illinois and formerly of Madison, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:36 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country, Missouri.

She was born August 20, 1948, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Reed) Macko.

She married the love of her life, Harry S. Peterson on October 13, 1973, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison and he passed away on September 22, 2017.

Helen was a devoted homemaker, loving Mother and the best Grammy to her grandbabies. She loved serving her Lord and was a faithful member of Calvary Life Church where she served on the hospitality committee and loved greeting her beloved church family for services. She enjoyed her days of babysitting, loved a day of shopping, traveling and always loved her trips to Branson. She cherished the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lorri Peterson of Granite City; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura M. and Kevin Warren of Collinsville; her precious grandbabies, Briya and Blakelee Peterson of Granite City; three sisters and brother-in-law, Joann and Rich Peck of Festus, Missouri, Mary Macko of Granite City and Elaine Streicher of Granite City; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Sherry Macko of Granite City; brother-in-law, David Peterson of Rancho Mirage, California; sister-in-law, Linda Bator of Belleville; special nephew and his wife, Michael and Nikki Peterson of Caseyville; aunt, Lorraine Estey of Maine; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other extended family; church family and many friends.

In addition beloved husband of 44 years, “Harry O.” and her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Michael Peterson, Ed Streicher and Wally Bator.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Calvary Life Church, 4650 Maryville Road in Granite City, Illinois on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Visitation will continue at Calvary Life Church on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Maynard officiating.
