Jon K. Stagner, 69, of Ashley, Illinois and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:23 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born April 9, 1955, in Granite City, a son of the late William and Eunice (Morgan) Stagner.
He married Mary E. (Fischer) Stagner on May 5, 1988, in Belleville, Illinois, and she survives.
He had worked in the Aerospace Industry for many years and retired in 2019 from Leidos Corporation as communication specialist. He had also worked for Southwestern Illinois College as a computer technician and had also worked as a respiratory therapist for several years. John loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman, enjoying his days of fishing and hunting.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ryan K. and Emily Stagner of Robertsville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Luke Stagner and Hannah Stagner; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeff Stagner of Imperial, Missouri and Archie and Joyce Stagner of Beardstown, Illinois; a sister Judy Pelton of Eureka, Missouri; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Faye Stagner.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
