Helga Elizabeth Rogg, nee Derndinger, 86, of Swansea, IL, born July 2, 1938, in Mannheim, Germany, died Friday, March 21, 2025, at her residence.
Our beloved mother passed away into Eternal Heavenly life. Our grief is overwhelming that you are no longer among the earthy bound. But we are comforted by remembering all the good you did for us and your sacrifices. We are forever grateful as we fondly remember your warm hugs and the countless times you told us how much you loved us. Your encouragement and motivation you instilled upon us in our young lives to be great and prosperous and to share our gifts with others.
Helga immigrated into the United States from Western Germany in the early 50’s as a young teenager. Working humble jobs to support herself and make a new life here in America. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, which led to becoming the senior day cook at Fischer’s Restaurant in Belleville. Years later, Helga also managed Eddie’s Greenhouse in Swansea, IL. She met her husband Frank through family and friends after coming to America. Our family was the center of her life. Making sure all was right and well. She sacrificed so much for us. Mom, thank you. Your efforts were not in vain as we live our lives, we are a reflection of you.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rogg Sr., who died on November 7, 2023; her mother, Cecilia Derndinger; a sister, Gertrude Grabowski; a sister-in-law, Paula Lowery; and a son-in-law, Stephen Koderhandt.
Surviving are three children, Linda Koderhandt, Joseph (Christine) Rogg, and Frank Jr. (Cheri) Rogg; two grandchildren, Nick and Natalie; a great-grandson, Trenton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
