Joseph Vecera

Joseph Raymond Vecera, “Joe-Vee,” age 89, born July 18, 1935 in Fairmont City, Ill., passed away Monday evening, March 24, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Cahokia Heights, Ill.

Joe had worked at Monsanto in his early career, but primarily was a businessman in Cahokia, to include Joe-Vee TV Sales and Service and a video rental store, which also offered lottery sales. After retirement he and his late wife Dorothy moved to O’Fallon. They had enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with friends over the years, enjoyed their time when they lived at Cambridge House, loved dining at Cunetto’s in St. Louis, and were proud grandparents.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, nee Krois, Vecera whom he married October 1, 1955 and passed away December 28, 2020; his parents Joseph H. and Elizabeth, nee Sloan, Vecera; and his brother-in-law Joseph Gambino.

Surviving are his daughter Karen (Kirk) Martin of Cahokia Heights; son Timothy (Monica) Vecera of O’Fallon; grandchildren Krista, Cara, and Cassie Martin, and Kayla and Eric Vecera; his sister-in-law Helen Gambino; niece Michele Coombs and nephew Thomas Gambino.

The family kindly requests that no flowers be sent. Expressions of sympathy, if so desired, are suggested to your local Knights of Columbus council, or Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 31, 2025 from 9:30 – 11 am, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon. Funeral Service will begin at 11 am, Monday, at the Funeral Home, with Fr. Nick Junker officiating. Burial will follow at O’Fallon City Cemetery, O’Fallon, Ill.
