Eugene L. “Monty” Kindle, 86, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:08 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.
He was born October 29, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Roland B. and Mary Mae (Conner) Miller.
He married Carol S. (Whitten) Kindle on December 21, 1956, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City and she passed away on April 9, 2024.
He retired in 2002 from Boeing after 45 years of dedicated service in production and quality control with McDonnell Douglas. He was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City where he was a member of the Praise Band. Monty had a love for music and enjoyed his many years of playing the pedal steel guitar with many quartets and groups.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Duncan of Troy, Illinois and Dawn and David Boone of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Daphne Kindle of Daphne, Alabama; ten grandchildren, Bonnie, Jodi, Amanda, Cori, Richard, Lyndy, Tim, Erik, Alyssa and Sophia; nineteen great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robin and Anne Kindle of Bismarck, Missouri; a sister and brother-in-law, Sioux and Rick Young of Bismarck, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Preston Schrader and Andrew Duncan and a sister, Cassondra Wilson.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Unity Baptist Church, 2550 St. Clair Avenue in Granite City on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jarad Corzine and Pastor Jason Fishburn officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.
