Rosalie Hudson

Rosalie Oneita Hudson, 94, of Granite City, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:26 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born November 13, 1930, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ada (Tucker) Nickles.

She married the love of her life, Virgil L. Hudson on July 29, 1950, in Granite City, Illinois and he passed away on January 30, 2018.

She and her husband were the founders of Hudson Jewelers and had served the community as owners and operators since 1944. Rosalie continued her love of working to the very end.

She was a faithful member of Gracepoint Pentecostal Church in Granite City where she served 25 years as a choir director and was always involved in organizing social activities at the church. She enjoyed many years of loving outreach to many widows and widowers throughout the area and was always there to help families. She attended school for music at the Assemblies of God Bible School in Waxahachie, Texas. Rosalie loved her days of traveling the world and was always looking forward to planning a party for family and friends.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Diane Hudson of Erie, Colorado and John and Jane Hudson of Wildwood, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lisa Hudson and her partner, Jovian Larmour of Monterey, California and Ian and his wife, Morgan Hudson of Erie, Colorado; two sisters, Mildred Dortch of Florida and Dodi Schmidgall of Maine; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Peggy Nickles of Tennessee and Jerry and Jana Nickles of Florida; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Richard Dortch and Richard Schmidgall.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Gracepoint Pentecostal Church, 2450 Pontoon Road in Granite City on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, with Reverend T.L. Smith officiating.

She will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to Gracepoint Pentecostal Church.
