Michael Edward Copeland, 65, of Alton and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 18, 1959, in Granite City, Illinois, a son of the late Melvin “Jackie” and Barbara (Hawk) Copeland.
He married Stephani J. (Hetherington) Davison Copeland on November 12, 2022, in Alton and she survives.
Mike worked out of the Laborer’s Local #397 with over 25 years of dedicated service. He was a skilled handyman and was always working on a project. He enjoyed his days of shooting pool, playing cards, fishing and being on a beach. Mike was always there to help others, had a love for animals and always enjoyed barbecuing and having people get together for a party. He cherished his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife and sweetheart since 1999, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Chris Beas of Topeka, Kansas and Brittany Davison and Zach McGeehon of Granite City; a son, Josh Davison of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Hayden and Rilyn Beas of Topeka, Kansas and Jude Davison of Bethalto; two brothers, Steve Copeland of Granite City and Jack Copeland of Granite City; a sister-in-law, Loretta “Retzi” Copeland of Granite City; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janet and Pat Harris of Granite City; brother-in-law, John Hetherington of Granite City; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
The family requests that casual attire be wore because Mike would want everyone to be relaxed and comfortable.
