Mildred Maxine DeBruce, age 97, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at her home. Mildren was born on September 6, 1927, in Big Sandy, TN, a daughter of the late Ernie Mannon and Jewell (Winters) Mannon.
On February 19, 1947, Mildred Mannon married Joseph Tilden DeBruce, the love of her life in Corinth, MS., and Joseph passed away on January 27, 2006. In her younger years, Mildred taught first grade in a one room schoolhouse, during World War II, and later on she worked at a candy factory in St. Louis, MO.
Mildred’s greatest joy was taking care of her family, whom she loved dearly. She was a faithful and active member of the Church of God Prophecy in East Alton, IL. She will be remembered as Christian lady who loved going to church to serve the Lord. Mildred will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mildred is survived by her loving sons, Ronnie Debruce and Gray (Cathy) DeBruce, both of Granite City, IL, dear brother, Steve Mannon of Belleville, IL, proud grandmother to Michael (Lauren) DeBruce and Melissa DeBruce, both of Granite City, IL, proud great-grandmother to Emma DeBruce, Abbie DeBruce and Symphony Smith, nephew, Steve Mannon, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, the visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Maggie Brooks and Rev. Randy Cowin officiating. Interment will in Benton Memorial Garden, Camden, TN, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be given to the Church of God Prophecy, 226 Pence Street, East Alton, IL 62024. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
