Garnet Moran, age 90, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Garnet was born on March 21, 1935, in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Frank G. Griffith Sr., and Charlene E. (Settle) Griffith.
On August 1, 1953, Garnet Griffith married George A. Moran, the love of her life at the Methodist Church in Granite City, IL, and George passed away on March 28, 2013. Garnet was a proud homemaker who cherished every moment she spent taking care of her family. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City, IL.
Garnet loved sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and all GCHS Warriors teams. She formed a special bond with everyone she met, and each person has a special memory about her. Garnet had a way of making everyone smile. Whether it was a compliment, a funny story or a simple hand squeeze. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Garnet will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and Husband, Garnet was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Griffith and Frank Griffith Jr.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael (Kim) Moran of Edwardsville, IL, Keith Moran of Florida, Clifford (Kim) Moran of Carlinville, IL, Timothy (Kathy) Moran of Granite City, IL, Terri (Lonny) Schiller of Granite City, IL and Cathleen (Todd Hayen) Moran of Morrison, CO, dear sister, Teresa Sinclair of Kimberly, MO, proud grandmother to Lauren, Katie, Luke, Ryan, Lisa, Nikolas, Erin, Sarah, Joseph, Maggie, Jori, Devan, Owen, Evan, Ian, Hunter, Jayden, and Judah, proud great-grandmother to Asher, Remi, Cayde and Mesa, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. Garnet will be laid to rest next to George at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Wilson Park in Granite City, IL or First United Presbyterian Church, 2160 Delmar Avenue, Granite City, IL. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
