Philip T. Roberts, 74, of Swansea, IL, beloved husband of the late Joyce S. Roberts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Born on Thursday, September 21, 1950, in Birkenhead, Merseyside, England, Phil loved Liverpool FC, his home club Tranmere Rovers, and was known for his sharp, dry Welsh humor. An accountant by day, he crossed the ocean for Joy-a 30-year marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering love.
A devoted stepfather to Hunter Husar and his wife Simone, and a proud step-grandfather to Natasha, he always supported Hunter in his every endeavor and was by Joy’s side until the end.
Phil is survived by his brother Michael and his wife Bernie, their son Shay, his brother-in-law Norman and Nancy Stewart, and his nephews Ian, Brian, and Colin Stewart, as well as his beloved cat Izzie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Norah Roberts; his father was a decorated World War II veteran who landed at Normandy.
Phil is forever united with Joy. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
