Paul Pluff, 82, of Smithton, IL, died Saturday, May 3, 2025, at his residence in Smithton surrounded by family. Born on December 4, 1942, in Cahokia, IL, the son of Leon and Marion, nee Lowry, Pluff.
Paul worked for over 20 years as a chemist and plant manager for Beck Flavors. He then set up and managed Allied Photo Products for several years before being bought out by Trebla Company. He was production supervisor there for over 15 years before retiring. He went back to work part time as lab technician for Standard Labs in Freeburg before retiring again.
Paul met the love of his life, Elizabeth, nee Thomas, on a blind date. They married on November 13, 1965, and spent the next 59 years together raising a family. Paul was a devoted father and grandfather and was known for his kind heart and sense of humor.
Paul loved camping and fishing with family and friends for many years at Carlyle Lake. He enjoyed wood working, gardening and was known as an all-around handyman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Patricia Sperino; and bothers-in-law, Marvin Watschinger and Christopher Lawton.
Besides his loving wife, Elizabeth; he is survived by his sons, Robert Pluff of Belleville, IL, and Brian (Melissa) Pluff of Smithton, IL; three grandchildren, Zachary, Kathryn, and Matthew; two sisters-in-law, Judy Watschinger of Mascoutah, IL, and Carol Lawton of Belleville, IL; a brother-in-law, James (Tina) Thomas of Millstadt, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Belleville.

According to Paul’s wishes cremation services were held and a private family celebration of life at a later date.
