Bobby L. Love, 71, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country, Missouri.
He was born March 16, 1954, in Camden, Tennessee, a son of the late James Guthery and Brooxie (Durden) Love.
Bob had owned and operated Love Construction and Remodeling for 35 years until his retirement in 2018. He had been a member of the Shriner’s, Eagles and Elks throughout the years. He was an avid sports fan and truly loved his years of playing and coaching football. Bob loved to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs and also enjoyed many genres of music. He had a big heart, quick wit, a bit stubborn, great neighbor and friend and was known and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by a son, Eric Love of Granite City; a brother, Jimmy Love of Granite City; a sister, Donna Love of Bethalto; love of his life, Kathy Cox of Granite City; stepchildren, Michael and Jackie Dowdy of Highland and Mindy and James Evans of Granite City; five grandchildren, Logan Love, Lana Love, Lucas Love, Nathan Dowdy and Kylie Dowdy; two aunts, Dorothy Allen of Camden, Tennessee and Alice Wyatt of Bruceton, Tennessee; five cousins, Stacey Allen, Tanna Whetherell, Crystal Hall, Darlene Baker and Betty Jean Wilcott; other extended family and many friends.
In celebration of his life, a visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until services at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Brown and Rev. John T. Six officiating.
A celebration of life luncheon will also be held at Al’s 520 Club, 520 Madison Avenue in Madison at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
