It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Tony Svec report his passing. Anthony James Svec of Belleville, IL, was born January 22, 1977, and died Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Tony always tackled life with passion, and he was a loyal friend and loving family member. Those dear to us are always gone too soon, but at 48 he was certainly lost too early and will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was filled with moments of joy and laughter that we will remember with fondness forever. And, as he would have wanted, we balance our grief with a hearty celebration of his life – and encourage all those who knew him to do the same.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph V. Svec, Sr.; and a nephew, Adam Svec.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen I., nee Kalert, Svec; his son, Aidden; his fiancée, Mary M. Bunse; his stepchildren, Cadance and Skylar; two brothers, Joseph (Mary) Svec and Victor (Diana) Svec; six nieces and nephews, Ashley (Nick) McCune, Brittany (Daryl) Pierson, Stephanie (Theo) Mueller, Brandon (Brooke) Svec, Angela (Joseph) Graves, and Ryan Svec; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelyn, Carter, and Kylie McCune, Andrew and Everly Mueller, Ayla Graves, Isaac, Isabella, and Elijah Pierson, Liam, Lucas, Logan, Levi, and Ellianna Svec.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
