Anne Waller

Dolores Anne Waller, nee Hartman, 97, of Belleville, IL, born August 15, 1927, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, at Dammert Care Center, Belleville, IL.

Anne graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1945 and Maryville University, (cum laude) in 1949. She began working as a sociologist for Catholic Charities in East St. Louis and later received a degree in elementary education from Washington University. She taught 3rd and 4th grade at Cannady School in East St. Louis, before marrying in 1951 and beginning her legacy of many offspring.

Anne was a former member of the St. Clair County Women’s Club, The St. Ann’s Society of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Red Hat Society. She was a former parishioner of Holy Angels and St. Patrick Churches in East St. Lous, Blessed Sacrament Church in Belleville and Corpus Christi Church in Shiloh. She spent the last 14 years of her life residing at the Benedictine Living Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Anne will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Paul P. Waller, Jr; her parents, Joseph and Winnifred Hartman; and a son-in-law, William Meirink.

She is survived by her eight children, Mary Eleanor Frascella (Charles Maguire) of Franklin MA, Paul Waller III (Kelly) of Kirkwood MO, Joe Waller (Vickie) of Creve Coeur, MO, J. Michael Waller (Francesca) of Des Peres, MO, Kathleen Feist (Jay McFarling) of O’Fallon IL, Anne Marie Meirink of Swansea IL, Margaret Szendrey (Pete) of Westlake, OH, and Maureen Waller (Aaron Russel) of Ithaca NY; and 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren (with more on the way).

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or Catholic Urban Programs. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Shiloh, IL, with Msgr. Carl Scherrer officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
