Robert Vogt

Robert “Bob” J. Vogt Sr., 81, formerly of Swansea, IL now residing in Millstadt, IL, born in East St. Louis, IL, Friday, February 25, 1944, died on May 26, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Vogt attended Holy Angels Grade School graduating in 1958 and Assumption High School graduating in 1962 both formerly in East St. Louis, IL. Robert graduated from Rankin Technical College in 1964 after two years of automotive repair study.

He next was employed at McMackin Buick Collinsville from 64 to 75 leaving there for employment at Elder Cadillac/Oldsmobile as an repair technician, in 1986 becoming the service advisor till the dealership closed in 1997 and retiring. During his membership in I.A.M. Automotive Lodge 313 he held numerous positions including President from 1980 to 1990 and delegate to numerous conventions.

Over the years after his two sons were born, he became active in many youth functions, such as soccer, hockey and Boy Scouts of America, holding many different adult leadership positions. He enjoyed the time he spent in the Order of the Arrow, a group of youth and adults whose main goal was service to others. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, IL.

He was preceded in death by his:

  • Wife: Jean Ann, nee Dalechek, Vogt
    • who he married April 22nd, 1967 and died November 25th, 2006 following a lingering illness
  • Second wife: Ruth A. McMorris-Vogt
    • who he married October 9th, 2010 and died June 7th, 2014 from pancreatic cancer
  • Parents: Joseph and Eloise, nee Fricke, Vogt
  • Sister: Mary Louis Mincher
  • Paternal and maternal grandparents

Surviving are his:

  • Sons
    • Robert J. (Erica) Vogt Jr. of St. Louis, MO
    • Christopher A.Vogt of Millstadt, IL
  • Sister: Jo Ann (Elmer) Rudroff of Florissant, MO
  • Numerous nieces and nephews
  • Other family members and friends

Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made for Masses, Hospice of Southern Illinois or Donor’s choice.

Visitation: Visistation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL. Prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 from Kurrus Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, IL with Father Evaristus Akabueze officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
