Kathleen J. Brady, age 79, of Swansea, IL, born on August 18, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Kathleen was a 1963 graduate of East St. Louis Senior High School. She married Francis Patrick Brady on May 30, 1969, at St. Phillip Catholic Church in East St. Louis, IL. Kathleen was a member of St. Phillip Church, St. Augustine of Canterbury Church and Immaculate Conception Chapel.
She loved being a stay-at-home mom when her sons were growing up and volunteered at their school and church throughout the years. She loved to travel, especially to Europe. Kathleen visited all 50 states and 4 continents. In retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the PSOP/RSVP program for 20 years. She also enjoyed reading and lunch with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph N. and Mary H. nee Novasak Havel; and her sister, Mary Schutzenhofer.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Pat Brady; her sons, Patrick J. (Jo ana) Brady of Oak Park, IL, and Steven M. (Rita) Brady of Belleville, IL; three step-grandchildren, Ricky Kurtzeborn, Melinda Kurtzeborn and Jenny Jones; one step-great granddaughter, Theo Kurtzeborn; and her sister, Barbara Klein of Waterloo, IL. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to request that red be worn in Kathleen’s memory to her services.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, Belleville, IL.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, Belleville, IL with Fr. William McGhee officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
