Norma Jean Woll (née Lee), 90, of Granite City, Illinois, gracefully departed this world on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at home, enveloped in the love of her family. Born on November 12, 1934, in Duke, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Zora (Vaughn) Lee.On April 11, 1952, in San Maria, California, Norma united in matrimony with her soulmate, Ray T. Woll. Their 73 years together stand as a radiant testament to their unwavering love and devotion.Norma’s hands were ever busy, crafting delicate crochet pieces and intricate quilts that warmed the hearts of family and friends. She found solace in the embrace of nature, whether camping under starlit skies or casting a line into tranquil waters. The thrill of unearthing hidden treasures with her metal detector brought her joy, as did the simple pleasures of playing dominos and piecing together puzzles.As a devoted mother to seven, Norma’s kitchen was a haven of culinary delights, where she took pride in preparing meals that left everyone with full stomachs and warm hearts. Known for being a bit of “spitfire”, she was a woman of forthrightness, always clear in her affections and convictions. Her boundless capacity for love was a beacon to her family, who were her world. Norma’s love extended beyond her family to her cherished pets, especially her beloved Boston Terriers, who brought her endless joy and companionship. Norma will be remembered as a beloved wife, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy of creativity, compassion, and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her two sons, Michael Woll and Larry Woll; her granddaughter, Emily Rozell; her sisters, Thelma Fravell and Jan Wilmurth; her brothers, Kenneth Lee and Mervin Lee; and her son-in-law, Charlie Hendrix.Surviving to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Ray T. Woll, of Granite City, Illinois; her children, Debra Hendrix, of Rolla, Missouri, Lanny Woll, of Edwardsville, Illinois, Gregory (Mary) Woll, of Granite City, Illinois, Ricky (Michelle) Woll, of Collinsville, Illinois, and Kimberly (Jay) Rice, of Sedalia, Missouri; her 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Memorials are appreciated to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
