Gary Lee Stieglitz, age 73, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Born on November 4, 1951, in Staunton, IL, Gary was the beloved son of the late Richard and Donna (Sawyer) Sturdivant.
A proud United States Army veteran, Gary served his country with honor and dedication. On September 7, 1971, he married the love of his life, Pamela “Pam” Rudd, in Salem, MO. Gary retired in 2017 from Amsted Rail in Granite City, IL, after many years of dedicated service as a pipefitter.
Gary’s passions included fishing in his younger years, reading avidly, and excelling in bowling, where he achieved numerous perfect 300 games. He will be remembered as a hard-working family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His legacy of love and dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Pam Stieglitz of Granite City, IL; loving children, Bob (Marsha) Stieglitz of Sweetwater, TX, and Michelle Mann of Springfield, IL; dear siblings, Gary (Carol) Sturdivant of Granite City, IL, and Deborah (David) Doughty of Caseyville, IL; proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, the funeral service will start at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. Gary will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL
