Leona Hagene, nee Schwarz, 96, of Belleville, IL, born December 14, 1928, in Pinckneyville, IL, died Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.
Leona was a loving wife and although she was never blessed with motherhood, she was a “great” aunt to many nieces and nephews too many to list. Leona especially loved camping, boating, fishing, and an occasional casino trip with her dear husband, Raymond. She was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and dedicated Red Cross volunteer for many years. She also loved working in her garden. Leona was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Hagene, whom she married on May 10, 1952, and who died on April 27, 2012; her parents, Louis and Emily, nee Mayer, Schwarz; four siblings, Ervin (Ruby) Schwarz, Alma (Junior) Lee, Norma Niemeyer, and William H. (Bill) Schwarz.
She is survived by her sister Velma Jones (Buddy); and her sister-in-law Shirley Schwarz (Bill).

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pinckneyville, IL, with Rev. Joshua Kintz and Rev. Darwin Schrader officiating.
Burial will be at Lost Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
