Charles H. Reed, 84, of Granite City, Illinois went to be with the Lord at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
He was born February 5, 1941, in Fenton, Louisiana, a son of the late Mabel (Saucier) and Edwin Reed Sr.
He married Renda (Johnson) Reed on November 17, 1961, in Granite City and she survives.
Charles was employed at American Steel Foundaries for 21 years. He retired on January 1, 2018, from the Metro East Sanitary District after 21½ years of dedicated service. He attended Restoration Church with his wife and enjoyed his days of fishing and hunting.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by three children and spouses, Daniel Reed, Denise and John Arnett and Douglas and Jeanne Reed; five grandchildren and spouses, Melanie Copeland, Charles and Angela Copeland, Jordan and Amanda Reed, Jessica and Jake Epperson and Jenna and Corbin Thomas; five great grandchildren, Kaylee Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Sawyer Reed, Ezra Reed and Charleigh Copeland; two brothers, Irvin Reed and Ed Reed Jr.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Johnson; several nieces; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Copeland and three sisters, Patsy Johnson, Barbara Cormier and Wanda Chaney.
In celebration of his life, a private burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
Memorials may be made to Partnership International Mission or to Restoration Church in Granite City.
